The brief
There was no client brief here. The aim was simply to stay alert to the working life around the ship and make a sequence from a fleeting harbour transfer.

Observed story
A working pilot boat seen from above: part observation, part geometry, and a reminder that a real story can happen in the space between two journeys.

Original work by Ed
This is a real photographic sequence from Ed's archive, presented as a personal documentary study rather than a commissioned client result.
There was no client brief here. The aim was simply to stay alert to the working life around the ship and make a sequence from a fleeting harbour transfer.
The viewpoint stays high and observational. Tight frames hold the pilot boat against dark water and white wake; wider photographs bring the ship, harbour and surrounding city back into the story.
Five connected photographs from Ed's own archive: a concise maritime study that moves from night-time tension into the wider working harbour.
